Project Brief
Our clients, Dev and Matt, invited Ellis Carter Ltd back to their beautiful 1700s cottage following the successful completion of their kitchen renovation the previous year. This time, the focus was on transforming the exterior front elevation of the property, restoring its character while giving it a fresh, clean, and long-lasting finish.
The brief involved removing the existing render, repairing any damaged brickwork beneath, and applying a new render system that would complement the age and style of the cottage. Alongside the rendering work, the project also included full exterior decoration works to the fascias, gutters, front gates, railings, and boundary wall to ensure the entire frontage felt cohesive and refreshed.
As with many period properties, preserving the original character of the home while upgrading tired and weathered surfaces was a key priority throughout the project.
Scope Of Work
Different rendering options were discussed with the clients during the planning stages; however, a traditional sand and cement render was ultimately selected to best suit the property’s age, appearance, and overall aesthetic.
The Results
The completed transformation has completely refreshed the appearance of this charming period cottage while maintaining the character and style expected from a property of its age.
The new render and exterior decoration have significantly improved both the visual appeal and protection of the property, giving the front elevation a much cleaner, brighter, and more refined finish. By restoring the fascias, railings, gates, and surrounding features alongside the rendering work, the entire frontage now feels cohesive and well maintained.
